Two dozen simple yet elegant ideas for understanding our world, from everyday life and health to deeper questions about nature, evolution, society, consciousness and the cosmos, radically different from the scientific views of the last four centuries.

New Kind of Science - Part 1

Computational systems : (Systems 2)

A new kind of mathematics & science fundamentally different from that of the last 10 centuries, that doesn't use numbers, letters, square roots, equations and X/Y graphs, and is more easily understood than algebra and calculus, yet more powerful as a tool for understanding nature. This course focuses on chapter 1 - 8 of Stephen Wolfram's A New Kind of Science.

Overview of End of the Long Summer : (AP1)

If you are feeling overwhelmed by our planetary perils, equip yourself with information, surround yourself with community, and step up to the challenges of our times. This introductory class addresses the first of those needs, as we lay the groundwork for understanding our collective cultural map, which is in essence responsible for our global predicament.

New Kind of Science - Part 2

Computational systems : (Systems 3)

This advanced course focuses on chapter 9 - 12 (which are fully half of the book) of Stephen Wolfram's A New Kind of Science. It is open to students who have completed NKS 1. It includes a review lecture of NKS 1, specifically the main principles from chapters 1 - 8.
